I have just been offered a teaching position on Crete at an International School and have been asked to send 300 euros for "processing and sending all the necessary travelling and working documents through DHL". Could someone tell me if this is a standard practice or is this a scam?

Regards

Scam, loud and clear. No respectable organization will ever ask to pay for such kind of things.

yes, it sounded like one esp. where they are paying the teacher 1300 euros a month, plus free housing. No-one in Greece gets that much money teaching Very Happy

I just wanted to say that I too received the same offer from an international school in Crete. I wondered why it had not been advertised on the more popular sites. The address appears genuine, but the links are not available. I guess anyone offering a job without speaking to you in person must be questionable. I understand it can be the norm to fund the initial visa cost in Greece; it is not normal to pay by Western Union into a personal account!! I was excited too - until I got to the money part Shocked All the best with your job search.

In most civilized countries - and perhaps even in Greece - it is ILLEGAL to ask for payment in return for finding a job. Costs for recruitment agencies should be borne by the EMPLOYER !
