It doesn't bode well at all, does it. I'm starting to feel sorry for them.
Not sorry enough to work there, mind you. They actually telephoned me on Christmas Day. At 6:30 in the morning. To persuade me to change my mind. That was not the most effective of strategies. |

Good lord, that is extreme!
Maybe if they add a few thousand on to their salary, it might make Xmas Day calls unneccesary? |

Extreme is one word for it. I was a bit surprised.
A few thousand dollars on their salary, double the housing & furniture allowances, and a certain je-ne-sais-quoi. Basic business sense? Organisational skills? |

Unfortunately, "organisational skills" or any other for such matter, DO NOT exist at this so called "university". It is run by an incompetent Iraqi and a pathologcial liar Egyptian who have no idea of what they are doing.
In September, when the place was already in disarray, they sent out a memo to teachers, ordering them to take a bath and change their clothes every day. This was not only insulting but entirely ridiculous - considering there was NO coordination at all at any level.
Teachers have received threats to sign their contracts - which are not in agreement with the offers which they recieved. These threats reach all levels - e.g. student evaluation is regarded by the so-called management, as a pay-back to teachers; teachers have even been threatened to give in the evaluation sheet about ADU; NO acknowledgement on behalf of the management is given to the appalling workign conditions - dirty classrooms, cubicles where teachers are then obliged to spend 4 to 6 hours trying to work in the midst of constant noise, NO washroom for female staff, NO response from the management regarding money which they owe teachers etc.
This warehouse - with a "university" sign hung outside - is the epitomy of professional abuse within our field of education. It is insulting and certainly one workplace to avoid at all costs (they are now recruiting native speakers like mad because the majority of teachers they have so far hired, speak with heavy foreign accents, many are not qualified, and the qualified, experienced teachers are either being fired or resigning. Even the deans are resigning as the place is utterly and completely hopeless at any and all levels of management and academic standards.
