I'm finally financially ready to make the move to mexico! I cant tell you how excited i am. anyhow, I will probably be leaving end of july/early august; and have set my sights on the state of nayarit. unfortunately i've only come across the laughing cayote school and a university. does anyone know of any other schools in the area? any help would be much appreciated, because i'm quickly starting to realize that a back-up plan may be in order : ) THANKS!!!

Yeah I read the laughing coyote school ad and was turned off by it. Once he started talking about being related to William Travis and cousin to George Washington, I started to disbelieve every thing he said. It could be a good place to work but the writer of the advertisement needs help with his English and his integrity.

Sorry I can't be of any more help than this.

Have you checked the online yellow pages yet? There are over 600 listings displayed under "escuela" in Nayarit.

Just curious if there is any particular reason you chose Nayarit?

From what I have researched and what I have read here in this forum, I personally would stay away from the Laughing Coyote schools. There have been many negative comments about that school and the owners. I suggest finding other schools, there are many in Mexico. Good luck.

yeah i think it would be wise for me to stay clear of the laughing coyote school.
samantha, thanks for your help! i did check out the yellow pages but unfortunately my spanish is not fantastic. but it's a great jumping board. what town is it that you teach? i'm completely open to suggestions.

i chose nayarit (aside from puerto vallarta) because of the environment. mountains meets jungle meets the coast is the ultimate combination for me; completely different from the midwestern U.S. where i'm from. I just want to venture out into a completely different environment and career.

One thing to think about Nayarit, is the possible polution from burning sugar cane. I just returned after spending a week from hell at the laughing coyote school...my mistake...but Nayarit is really clean and I believe very safe...

Am also a Laughing Coyote survivor. Would not do it again in this or a future lifetime.

jprimm, please pm or e-mail me. Were you the teacher who was sent to Santa Maria de Oro? I was in Santiago. Would love to hear your feedback.

Me too. I have been dying to say something but figured it would be best to keep my mouth shut about it and move on. (I did try to mess with them a little though, if you review my posts.) I tell ya, watching them shoot themselves in the foot over and over has been highly entertaining.

Guy C: that line about the shovel was friggin awesome!

Anyway, I'll hit you guys with a pm and tell you about my experience...I'm pretty sure everyone else is quite sick of this topic.

Just a few comments. Jprimm came to the school for 3 days. His entire time here he was trying to get the owner to let him and investors invest in the school here. He also tried to get seveal teachers to invest in stocks and other business things. After the 3 days, and the owner said no thank you, they got rid of him and he was told to never come back. There is 100 percent proof beyond a shadow of doubt that this teacher is on this site one time trying to hire people the next posing as a teacher with other motives. If you want some great advice, and copies of tapes, email me and I will make sure you get the full story as well as the con he has done with many schools.
Santiago teacher,, I know it is hard to get fired, but do you really want the world to know why? Just take a look on some national sites, of people to not hire for obvious criminal reasons and you will get the answer. This school does it job. If you come back with a bad background check, your not working here. I went through it just like you both did. Why dont you stop trying to convince yourselves and others that there is no reasons behind the decisions? Oh, and taking the school credit card and phone that belongs to the school is really not the way to prove the background check was wrong. Email me if anyone wants the full story on anyone the school has fired. My suggestion.. stay away from them both. the school webpage will have a "balcklist" with the proof of the teachers being let go, and what they did and why not to hire them anywhere. Also, I am not the owners wife, I am a male and I do like this school and my job and the program is great. Keep talking about us. Its great. Free advertisment. 50 to 100 applications a day. I know it is hard to believe but there are many people who never look on this site or even care. Positive or negative advertisment is fine. There is no problem keeping teachers here, it is more a problem finding a teacher worth keeping.

dreamon, I realize it's already too late, but have you ever entertained the idea of thinking before posting?

Actually, I thought this through very well. Maybe you should ask others that question. Better yet, use your great resarch abilities and find out for yourself about the people that are being entertained. I also am writing my last post on DAVES ESL. As of now, I am canceling my account, and I am wishing you mot of all Samantha the karma that life offers those who are so deserving. You entertain individuals that are really very sick and I cannot and will not give another minute to this level of dialogue. Nothing more needs to be said.

After Dreanon's comments which were from Pablo, the owner...here is an email sent to me by a fellow teacher...this should bury the subject and them!!

Holy jumping lobotomies!!! I was right, saying that insane doesn't do her justice. Her gall, continual lying and failure to face reality is astounding. Are you going to answer her slander and lies against your good name? I think I'd contact a lawyer first ( do they have any free services in Denver? ) and definitely blast her a final time on Daves. Perhaps you could paste her initial email to you after you left which would expose her insanity. Although I wasn't mentioned, I'm really pissed at the way she continually blasts you with seeming immunity. ( Maybe I scared her with the threat of a lawsuit ). I counted at least ten lies in the full statement, including denying that she was the owners wife. Use me ( teacher that was there with me ) and feel free to give my email to anyone who contacts you. I will verify that you were there eight days and never once mentioned investing or buying their school ( you'd have to be nuts ) and that you weren't fired. Also, feel free to use me as a character reference if it ever comes to that. Paloma's truly a crazy, and yes ( you were right ) evil, bitch who belongs in a padded cell !!! ( Use that if you like ).

When you go to their own website it seems clear they have little experience dealing with foreign employees. The wording of Career Opportnities and Requirements is very unusual. It seems written to discourage applicants especially the part about revealing prescription drug usage.
