Sorry if this is the wrong area for such a posting, but I'm just trying to help spread the word to help the family out.

Quote:
Ani Ashekian: A Young Woman Missing in Hong Kong
I am writing to you seeking help to find our Daughter, our Sister, our Best Friend.

Ani is a bright, adventurous and vibrant young woman who has a passion for travel.
Her most recent trip was to Asia - specifically to China, India Vietnam and Cambodia. Before her departure Ani only had enough time to secure a visa to China and decided she would get the other necessary travel visa's while abroad.

She left the Toronto International airport on Friday, October 24th and was scheduled to return on the 15th of December.
The fact that Ani did not board her flight home on that day was not a surprise to her friends and family for they already knew something was amiss.
Initially, Ani had kept in regular contact with her family and friends during the trip.
However, November 10th was the last that anyone has heard from Ani.
When the calls and emails abruptly stopped people began to worry.
Ani's visa statement shows 2 cash advances on the 10th of November, it is unclear whether these withdrawls were made under duress.
She has not used her visa card or her bank card since that day.
Her passport indicates that she entered Hong Kong on November 9th but that she has not left Hong Kong.

Foreign Affairs, a private investigator and the media have been contacted.
We are working on setting up a trust fund in her sister's name to help her family pay for the cost of the private investigator.

There is a Facebook group set-up called: MISSING: Ani Ashekian

You can also contact her sister (Rosie Kampstra) at 1-519-967-0413...

Cheers.

No one else is in possession of her passport.. I'm not sure which part confused you.. She only got her visa to China while in Canada and planned to get the others while in China..

Perhaps your getting confused in some instances where visa = credit card.

Either way, any help or suggestions are obviously greatly needed and appreciated.

Well, there's your passport visa then there is a Visa credit card (sometimes spelled in all caps - - VISA). The way "visa" is used in the story both times is all lower-case so it can be confusing.

Sad story, I hate to even think it, never mind saying it, but with so much human trafficing going on in Hong Kong PLUS it's surrounded by water...good god! Constantly in touch then POOF! Sounds like she won't be heard from again, especially when there is evidence of not one but TWO cash withdraws from her credit card and then no more word.

I hope I am wrong, but it's not likely... say a prayer for her.

I am wondering a little why her relatives have waited until now to raise the alarm...surely they'd have been seriously worried by no contact within 2-3 weeks if they were close?

The idea that she has been kidnapped sounds far fetched. HK is the safest city I've been in-lived there 10 years and it is so safe. This person has either fallen somewhere and can't be seen e.g. Lantau or hill walks...or she does not want contacted. They waited from Nov 10th to Dec 27th? That is 2 months...???
