International House are advertising on Dave's for teachers in Jeddah and Dahran.

Mention of the salary they pay is conspicuous by its absence. Can't imagine why,.

The trend of not mentioning salary seems to be growing.
Obviously the salary is lousy otherewise they would mention it and it would be a selling point.

I'm not surprised that they don't mention salary. You can guarantee that if it's IH it will be embarrassingly small (the voice of experience speaks). Still, they'll no doubt find a bunch of this years IH believers, who are prepared to put up with no money just so they can say that they work for the mighty IH. I have to say I found IH people to be, shall we say, a little odd (and I, for my sins, ran one of their schools. Still, it was merely a youthful abberration. Honest.)

IHers do tend to be a tad earnest - sometimes sound like they've swallowed the Headway teachers' book.

I too would be 99% certain the salary will be appalling. However, for Ihers coming from Poland or Byelorussia - which is where most IH schools are these days - will probably consider it great. Everything's relative, I suppose. They also don't offer the standard annual flight home or end of contract bonus.

No mention of whether it's for the lads or lasses.

According to the IH website, the salaries are 6000 Riyals a month basic for 35 contact hours a week. That's almost as bad as B*rl*tz!

For the true believer in the message of IH there should be no need for a salary. They shoukd offer their services free.

Scot, you remind me of a friend of mine who referred to IH as the "Body Shop" of the EFL business.

As in "Oh, we don't need a trade union or any of that confrontational nonsense: we all love each other here and are happy simply to be part of the organization!"
