Hi, I'm a 26 year old American guy with 4 years teaching experience (in Ecuador, Korea, Japan and Vietnam) and a TEFL. I'm planning on going to Bogota in the next few weeks to look for a job. What kind of job should I expect to get offered? |

There's tons of work at language institutes, working under the table. Not very many language institutes will sponsor you for a work visa, but some will. Expect to work 15-20 hrs/week and get paid between 20-25K pesos/hour. Jobs at high schools and unis are available for people with certs and experience, but it definitely helps to have connections and a bit of luck. I think these jobs usually pay similar to the pay per hour at institutes, sometimes more depending on the school, but you're typically working more hours and the hours are more convenient and there's less travel invovled. |
