Just wondering if anyone can post info on approx salaries (hourly, part-time or full-time) and comments on the main places for tefl work.
I know a lot depends on qualification, experience, etc. But general range?

BC?
Amideast?
AUC (but difficult to get into)

Other reputable places?????? Cairo / Alex?

Nobody will be able to answer your questions because they are too vague.

Here's my take on TEFL in Egypt: there isn't much of a market.

Here's why.

Anyone who wants to go to college after high school must sit the SAT I and SAT II exams in 11th and 12th grade. Because those exams are delivered in English, everybody who has any motivation to learn English knows as much as they want to know before they graduate from high school. Every school, whether it's an International school or a National, public school, teaches English. English teachers at these schools tutor students to supplement their incomes.

There are adults who have a motivation to expand their English language learning, however they will often pay an Egyptian English teacher 25 LE an hour instead of paying a native speaker 150 LE an hour (that's my rate, and I get it). It's all about economics.

No, there's far more work in Egypt for someone with a TEFL certification working in one of the international schools than there is in TEFL itself.
