While they claim to speak "the King's English" (they will swear to it), I can't understand a damn word they say, having just spent 5 months there in 2008.

Anybody got any idea of any ESL possibilities there? I didnt get any chance to check it out while I was there.

Eclectic,

I think this is the second time I have posted this, not sure what happened to my first post. Whatever, why don't you stir up the pot on the Saudi message board?

Hey dudes and gals,

Guyana is sure a lonely and abandoned British outpost on the lonely north shores of South America.

What part of the Carib are you in?

Very old thread... but I'll have to say they do speak English in Guyana but their accent is so thick you won't understand unless you befriend a few. Being Trinidadian, I understand them well. Their O's & E's are pronounced as A's; so they would say 'corner' as car-na, & 'mother' as 'madda' etc etc.

About as much chance of legal work there as of a Green Card for The Big Rock Candy Mountain.
