Hi, Everyone,
I would like to know what starting salaries are for teaching in elementary schools in Qatar. How much would it be for a person with a master's and several years' experience? |

There's a big range in salaries. I've got gal pals teaching in all kinds of schools.
American School, Doha College, DESS and Qatar Academy seem to be the top paying schools - 13.000 - 18,000 per month.
Some places pay between 8,000 - 12,000 (QIS, Gulf English, etc.)
Other schools, including independent schools start at around 5,000 QR per month. Your nationality is important. Westerners earn more than Asian/Arab teachers. Sad but true.
QP doesn't discriminate on basis of nationality nor do most of the colleges, but the schools do. |

Do not accept less than 15,000 plus single or family-status contract. Otherwise, look into the UAE with ADEC web site or Teach Away recruiter which is hiring for them. They offer between 13,000 to almost 21,000. And, of course, Qatar is boring to death.
Hope this helps too |

Salaries in the UAE are much higher. QU is one of the worst paying places in the region now. The places in Qatar Foundation pay much better but it's hard to get a job with them. They usually bring their own. |

Right on! in the UAE, English instructors make at least 16,000 a month and at QU, they offer 13,5000 no matter how many years of experience you have got under your belt.
On a top of all, the working environment is INFESTED with spys. |

Wid da transport allowance & appraisal bonuses ya get more. But dey're real careful wid da appraisals & who gets da extra moolah. If yer in, yer i, if yer out, yer out, no matter how hard ya work & what ya do. No thanks fer hard work beyond da call 'o duty. |

Pays better than the Gulag. But then again, we have less stress and a fairly laid-back management. Nobody out to get us. But you do have to watch yourself. One of our direct hires recently got booted out for not toeing the line. (He had a bit of a problem with the old booz-o.) |
