I've recently come back from living/teaching in China. I had a blast, and would like to continue doing the same kind of work here (Sydney).

I'm looking at getting CELTA certified.

How are the job prospects for CELTA qualified teachers in Sydney? I've been keeping my eye on seek.com.au, and mycareer.com.au; prospects are OK, but other cities seem to be recruiting more. Melbourne for example.

How is the job market in Sydney for CELTA certified teachers?

Is there a different site (besides seek/mycareer) that recruits teachers?

The job market in Sydney seems pretty good if you have a little experience and luck

You might also want to try gumtree.com.au as well because I know some schools that advertise on there occasionally

The CELTA is all important. ELICOS schools have to employ teachers with this it seems and I don't fancy your chances otherwise. I've been offered well paid jobs with two well-respected organisations because of teaching experience in other fields but because I didn't have a CELTA these offers were ultimately withdrawn. That said, there seems to be a few 'language centres' that aren't as picky about qualifications.

You're right - Melbourne's status as the cultural capital of Oz seems to be translating into more students choosing to study there. I noticed a lot more offers there and an increasing amount in Brisbane too.
