Has anyone taught English in Cairns? How possible is it to get a part-time gig teaching English on a short-term basis. I have my CELTA, and many years experience teaching English. Any info helpful. |

No, I've never taught there but everyone I know who goes there (students and friends) stays for the typical tourist length of 2 - 10 days.
along with the relatively small size of Cairns and general lack of teacher advertisements I see for the place, I'd say that the fact you only want part-time short term work could work in your favour - full-time work might be hard to come by!
that said, there seems to be a few schools there when you search on google - who knows? |

Have been teaching in Cairns for the last six months, planning on leaving next month. It is possible to find full-time work or just pick up the occasional cover shift....... if you want to know some specifics just let me know what you wanna know and i'll do my best to answer |

Why would you want to work in Cairns? The weather may be beautiful all year around but it is full of Rednecks. And, the indigenous people are still treated like 3rd rate humans. |
