I've been on the site and wondering if anyone who is there right now can tell me about the teaching hours, class sized and how long the work week is.

Office hours 7am till 5pm 7 days a week. Lunch 12-2.
10-17 students in a class.
Canteen food.
Internet and mobile access, (the latter is expensive).
Headway/Objective Pet, soon Cutting Edge.
Limited access to supplementary materials.
Bring a laptop with good virus protection.
Bring everything in fact.
Get into keep fit.
Bring enough money to get a tv, sat dish and box.
Could be on the coast, where there's a nice beach, but could be inland, where life's easier in many ways as the food is better, there are no transport issues and the gyms can be quite good.
The teaching's the easy bit....living in solitude and stark surroundings is what makes most people turn tail.
No booze, women or social life.
42 days 0n, 21 off.
They pay on time.

Actually, we've had some guy from sirte oil in Libya, who says he's still working there, apply for a position here in one of the Kazakh oil fields.
This suggests that working in Libya and places such as Equitorial Guinea in the oil and gas sector is not necessarily the dead-end that many seem to think it is.
It also goes to show that several years of working there can provide one with the experience to move up to jobs such as mine.

I couldn't agree more with the previous post.

Sirte Oil is quite well paid as it starts at around 3,000 Euros a month. The rotation at 6 and 3 is 'do-able'.

Several of the old teachers here moved on to the Adgas gig on Das Island, Abu Dhabi and I myself have looked at that position in Kazak; it looks good, a shorter rotation, similar work and the lifestyle to die for if it's for you.

Rotations don't suit everyone though.

Whats the best way to get into these Oil companies? I have sent a few speculative emails to a few but never get any reply. Is it through agencies etc?cheers.

For Libyan oil companies try Smart Recruitmant Specialists, Harley Street, London. Ask to speak to May Dean, 'Head of Recruitment'.

It's a good job and Libyans are good people.
