Can't seem to find previous thread initiated by camelfluffer and furthered by wildman re. GES. Take-down order? To update current situation (if permissable) - aforementioned respected interim Secondary Principal is still putting out brushfires lit by unruly students and staff are still battling stupid decisions made higher up the food-chain. CIS accreditation is still going ahead meaning yet more pressure. Consequently, all are fatigued only a few months into the year. Worse still, the post new-year run is light on holidays bar Easter and one long weekend. Time-tabling damage done in-part by previous Principal prior to staff arriving back in August can't be undone so we have to live with it. Sadly, this kind of jack-booting has painted a school with some potential very badly, especially for replacement teachers looking beyond the hyperbole in the recruitment ads. This is not a moan from a disgruntled staffer - rather a heads-up that highlights just some of the difficulties we all battle under a regimen that should learn to open the other eye and see the damage being done. |

Ah yes, Gulf English (that's how people usually refer to it) Not heard it called GES.
Another one of the many schools owned by a royal lady or important person. When Qatar Academy opened 12 years ago, it became fashionable for ladies with big bucks or their spouses to open a school. Most of the private schools are owned by women. It is an in thing to talk about your school.
A lot of these women don't really know what's going on in the school. As long as they see profits, they don't much care about educational standards and quality. Gulf English is one of these places. There are a lot of very hardworking (mainly female) teachers who have given their best to this establishment and not appreciated for what they do.
Long hours, low pay, shoddy accomodation and students who often get their parents to make false complaints.
Not one of the best schools. How they managed to get IB accreditation is incomprehensible. It's not the only school that has IB approval and has not had a good academic track record. |
