I first found this site in 1997. My then-bf and I were searching for info on teaching in South Korea, as we'd heard about it from other people. We found both of our jobs through this site (jobs in Korea and Taiwan). Last year, I joined the job discussion forum after reading the posts off and on for a few years. I have also used Dave's quiz section for my CALL classes, so all in all I can honestly say that this site has been good for me in many ways. Kudos to Mr. Sperling! Wink

If I remember correctly, I joined the eslcafe crowd in 2001. Previously, I knew zero esl/efl sites, and never even thought I could communicate with like-minded folks.
My Chinese-American neighbour had a bad spell for a time and asked me to help him locate a would-be employer; I found several schools willing to hire him, and many that were unwilling. He was a smart guy that soon knew how to market himself, though. And, he found Eslcafe and told me about it.
He no longer teaches; he is now back in his old occupation as a person dealing and wheeling on his own.

one boring afternoon at my old job, I was googling my way around the web and that is how I came across this place.
At first, I was weary of joining yet another forum but I crept in shadows for about 2 months and realized that there wasn't much flaming going on here. I signed up and the rest is DAve history Cool
