I'm presenting a teacher at the AMIDEAST office in Aden, Yemen. I've been here a month and am enjoying the experience of both living and teaching in Yemen. The teacher development is extensive for new teachers, regardless of how many years of experience they hold. There's a lot of teacher observation (i.e., I'm observed and I observe others as well, followed by constructive feedback), and we have weekly teacher discussions as a group, which includes Yemeni teachers who are also new to the field. I've been impressed with the professionalism and teacher support as well as the warm welcome from the established teachers and from my students.

I'm not sure why the link on AMIDEAST's site is not working, but I suggest you email the coordinator for info about future hirings and teacher qualifications. I have an MA in Teaching/TEFL emphasis but believe there are teachers here with BA's. Lastly, AMIDEAST hires both native and non-native English speakers.

As to words meaning what I want them to mean...It's so clear, I should have made my Ex read Alice.

It appears that it was only the Sanaa school that was passed over to YCMES. The last AMIDEAST manager left there quite a long time ago.

Not really... this is the mysterious Middle East. Most of the expats seem to prefer Sanaa. It certainly has a better climate while Aden can be hot and humid.

Fired off an email to the AMIDEAST coordinator listed for Sana'a, recieved confirmation from the EL coordinator that they are indeed still operating in Sana'a, as well as Mukallah.

Very interesting... people in the know with AMIDEAST have told me the opposite.

...or are they perhaps just referring you to YCMES? Only the camel knows...

It's not really an issue for you as a teacher. Whichever one it says on your contract, they (AMIDEAST or YCMES) are dependable and relatively predictable.

I was working at AMIDEAST Sana'a in 2010. I can assure you it was there.
