HCEG1: How does one apply for a teaching job with KPC?
Language Solutions / LangSols is lead by a chap in Britain who visits Kuwait, namely MOD EDIT who then passes Teachers on to MASS Consultants & Services, Kuwait City.
MASS is the actual Kuwaiti employing company which should provide the lawfully required Residence Work Visa 18 [Iqama] plus Monthly Cash Salary to newbies awaiting Iqama or Monthly Salary payments for teachers with Iqama together with Kuwait Civil ID Card, thus a bank account, credit card, etc.
The daily work is 7am to 3pm teaching at the KPC Training Centre in Ahmadi, Kuwait.
Apartments provided are furnished, located on a busy highway called the 5th Ring Road, near the popular City Centre Shopping Complex and Passport Office of Salmiya/Hawally Governate, roundabout but quite convenient for entering most main routes, plus via the Road 30 only 10 minutes to central Kuwait.
The company pays around 280 KD monthly per 1 bedroomed flat, without internet connection, for each Teacher's free accommodation. The Monthly Salary was put up to 900 KD in August 2008 and free mini-bus transportation is provided for work.
However, MOD EDIT tells new recruits they will work for a British company. Also, they all try to retain new teaching staff on a 1 Month Visit Visa or a 3 month Visit Visa [an advantage in Kuwait as re-newable another 3 months for Brits, Canadians and Americans, so 6 months possible without Iqama.]
Email MOD EDIT in Britain at LangSols asking:
[A] How many Teachers have fully completed a 1 Year Contract of 12 months work for the company, MCSKW [Kuwait] at KPC Training Centre and [B] How many teachers in total to date have worked there?
Type, his [email protected]
If emailing Kuwait, via [email protected]
Definately pay to install a new front door lock and retain all 3 keys provided by supplier.
Do not give a key to company staff or a building care-taker called a Haris (Arabic).
Be present during any necessary visit although it is rare that somebody has to visit your apartment, except their furniture checks before you arrive and when you depart after contract ends.
By the way, nobody received any compensation and no money returned after thefts of cash from flats. |

The KPC contract is held by Language Solutions. Last year someone used a key to enter the Language Solutions flats of various teachers and stole money. Language Solutions circulated a memo ordering teachers not to go to the police. Recruiter MOD EDIT referred to the incident as a "break-in" when in fact the thief walked in. The first teacher to report the theft was told he was imagining things or had simply misplaced the money. |

Sounds awful for the teachers who had things stolen.
Has anything changed since then about security of accommodation?
Without defending Language Solutions (who I don't know), the throughput of staff at KPC has always been high. |

If you want to be browbeaten and taken advantage of, then work here. The best place for the moment is AUK. If you don't have an MA, your options are pretty limited. |
