Are you asking about salaries for Czechs or salaries for English teachers in Prague?

20,000 should be approximate net for a full time teacher. The kicker is that average rents/month run 8,000 - 12,000.

It's subsistence wages.

Hi, I was talking about Czech people... not TEFLers.

Although analysts expect average gross monthly wages in the Czech Republic to rise to around CZK 21,000 (about 744 as at 14 January 2007) in 2007, and civil servants pay to rise by CZK 1,050 (37), many of the Czech Republics other four million employees are not likely to experience any increase in real incomes; in fact, some workers might even face a drop in real incomes.

Slightly outdated, but I think still pretty accurate based on what our (Czech) family members in Prague earn.

There is quite a large difference depending on region - Praguers and other big-city dwellers, like everywhere, usually make relatively more than small-town workers.
There is also quite a split these days between top and medium earners.

Out of curiosity, why are you interested? Hoping to marry a relatively high-earning Czech Chick?

Or have you been offered one of those shady jobs that touts its wages are 'high' by local standards?
