I have just been informed that my BSc from the Open University UK has not been accepted by the Ministry of private schools and my contract has been recinded. Has anyone had this problem??

The Open University is a Uk university established in the 1960's to provide university education part-time to those in work. It was the main achievement of the Wilson Government. (The other was resisting pressure from Johnson to participate in the war in the 'Nam.)

Next question from our insular American OP - "Who was Harold Wilson?"

Some of us are old enough to remember him... but for most 'muricans it is completely irrelevant who the Prime Minister of the UK happened to be back in the 60s.

Well it seems that even though the Arab Open University is in Kuwait founded by HRH prince Talal bin AbdulAziz of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry are not accepting it as a legitimate qualification. In the UK it is a fully accredited university degree.

Ironically ridiculous that I know of four people teaching in schools in Kuwait who have bought their BAs from the internet for about 300 pounds and they are approved by the ministry to teach here, and yet a perfectly good, decent and legitimate degree from the Open University in the UK is refused- Mr Al T at the ministry of private education needs some private education himself.

Naa... it will be the lack of education that has allowed the military/corporate culture to take over that has sunk it... but, neither of us will live long enough to have to worry about it too much. Laughing
