Hi all,

I'm planning to apply to some universities in SE France for Sept onwards. From past threads, it's clear you have to be in the country to even be considered. Would it be the same for universities?

My plan is to turn up first week of Sept, CV in hand and push everywhere I can find, universities and adult ESL places. But would anyone have any advice on university ESL teaching? Would they be open to an exploratory CV and cover letter or would it be a waste of time? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Oh by the way I'm an Irish citizen, CELTA and 2 years' experience.

Many thanks

It depends what jobs you're looking for. I couldn't get the job I wanted because my Masters wasn't in TESOL but they told me I could have applied for an assistante d'anglais type role from the UK, which is silly as I live in France.

I would call up every university, see whether they're recruiting, what jobs they've got and whether your qualifications will be sufficient otherwise the CVs and cover letters will be a waste of time and you're better off going to something like Wall St Institute straight off.

(I really need to learn to type one of these days...)
