Hi,

I'm a newly qualified CELTA teacher and wondered whether anyone has heard of, or knows anything about, SPEVACEK and T.E.C in Prague?

I've got an prospective interview with them - i've just got to fill in the application form. They say I'd earn about 23,000-25,000 per month, is this enough to live on in Prague? I just want to know a little more before I complete and send off the application form.

Thanks
Jess

You need to know NET salary in hand before you can judge the salary.

Count on spending 8-10,000 for a flat - you might flat-share for less, but if you want to live on your own, it's expensive.

If the figures they quote are net - good enough - if you are actually going to net just 16-18,000 - much tougher, though people do it - again, flat share is probably the key.

Obviously you can supplement your wages with private students, but this is unreliable and takes some time to build up a student base.

I know the DoS of Spevacek. He's very good and cares a lot about teachers.
