Been in Poland teaching 5 years. Wondering what the transition would be like. Has anyone done it? I love visiting Prague but have no idea about day to day life as an esler. Gut feeling is the hospitality and friend making is better in Czech.

I don't know Poland, but do know the CR. Stereotypically, Czechs can be pretty reserved and it can take a while to make friends, but when you do, they're real friends.

As for socialising, there's a giant expat scene, including people from all over (not just native English speakers). Lots of socialisation opps, yes.

Daily life an an esl-er? I guess similar to Poland - working long hours, split shifts, living carefully in terms of money, travelling around to your students' offices in most cases....A good way to get to know a city, in some respects!

Are you aiming for Prague or a smaller city/town? Also makes a difference.

So far as job market, I think Prague is pretty tight this year...true, guys?

yeah as far as i can tell... but 5yrs exp (esp as it's with Eastern Europeans) should help you get to the front of most queues. might not make you rich tho...
