In short: get a TESOL or TEFL certificate to top off your Bachelors, preferably in Prague. Takes a month or so. Research the schools, contact them, give them your CV and pound the pavement. Maybe you'll make it...maybe you won't. |
i think that's the conclusion that me, spiral and ryan came to earlier in the thread (direct quote: If the OP is still out there, the point is: you can follow all of the good advice offered by spiral and mr tree, do everything right and still not get a job.)
all "both" of us can't be wrong
btw the point about locals liking American accent over British is true. though i always assumed that American entertainment (films etc) was a factor here...
MM - thanks for sharing your experiences. i know hundreds of teachers here - sounds like you've done well for yourself. i've definitely heard other, less-favourable experiences. i think it'd be awful of us to say "come on over Adam, you'll be fine!" and then he can't find a job and ends up writing off $1,000 for the whole experience (rare but i definitely know it happening to two or three people). pessimism vs realism, i guess, how's your perspective...... spiral's point about having a contingency plan is definitely valid |
