To quote, Vietnamese prostitutes trying to lure customers in the resort town of China Beach have been taking English classes to improve their chances, state-run media has said.

At least three English classes have been opened unofficially in the city, with teachers who provide instruction on sentences like: 'One hundred dollars', 'I want to be your wife' and 'Give me your watch', the Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourer) newspaper reported on Friday.

C'Mon Dave, give the girls a break. Let's have discounted ads for them!

Hello Stephen Jones:

Now THAT'S funny. Laughing I love the 'gimme your watch' line.

Since I'm a firm believer in 'hands-on' instruction for those who are working their way up the ladder, I would certainly be the first to volunteer my native-speaker services pro-bono. (or is that pro-boner?) I'm terrible with Latin. Razz

Regards,
kenT

Dear kenT,
" I love the 'gimme your watch' line. "
Kind of gives new meaning to the phrase " short-time ", doesn't it? Not to mention, the new interpretation for ESP: " English for Successful Prostitution ".
Regards,
John

Dear scot47,
I'm not so sure Foreign Language Teaching ( FLT ) is the " second oldest profession ". That " honor ", I'd say would belong to pimping. On the other hand, there may be those who contend that FLT is actually a sub-division of the " first oldest profession ", while owning/administrating a FLT school is a sub-division of the second.
Regards,
John
