Hey everyone! I know there have been posts on this in the past but those posts were from years ago. Anyone have any information on these two companies? I have an interview for both companies but I only can go to one. Does anyone have a preference? Which company is better overall?

Thanks for the feedback!

Essentially, the information has not changed on either company.

If you have a specific question, it would be better to ask.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. I just wanted to know if anyone had experience working with either company. How are the working and living conditions? I tried to look but couldn't really find anything. Thanks for the help!

You couldn't find anything? That's very odd.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the poster wanted info that was more up-to-date. I'm assuming the links provided probably consists of stuff from like probably 2005 or 2006 or whatever. That was my problem when trying to look up info on some of these recruiters...most were old.

Yeah, and he's the one that's the first to complain about ALTs/AETs not pulling their own weight.

Love to have his job Smile

I complain about people not searching for easy info like this, not about ALTs pulling their weight.

Yes, I had a lot of time on my hands. All of 10 minutes is what it took. Really.

More up to date? C'mon! Some of that is clearly labeled 2009. Moreover, what differences in the info really exist between now and a few years ago? None, as I wrote earlier.

And, besides, I could post something that was published last month and someone would cry that they wanted something more recent. I don't see anyone else here making an effort. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I'm going to have to agree with Glenski on this one. The Dave's search function is really good and comes up with a number of related results even for 3-letter words.

"Search for any terms or use query as entered" is the option I always use. If you're looking in this forum (Japan) be sure to chose that from the forum drop-down list.

Display results as POSTS is often times better/more comprehensive, as you see your search term as it comes up in all posts, rather than just the thread topic/header.

Return ALL AVAILABLE characters of posts- as then you can see the ENTIRE post and find your search query highlighted within the whole of the post.

This method never fails for me, and I can always find information on what I need, so long as there is information out there in the first place.

If you're having trouble with the search function, try googling:
Code:
site:eslcafe.com "aeon interview"
It brings up literally hundreds of hits. To filter it, try adding other search terms outside the quote marks. For example:
Code:
site:eslcafe.com "aeon interview" process
or
Code:
site:eslcafe.com "aeon interview" process +questions
The quote marks mean that the results should contain the exact phrase between them, the plus symbol means that the item following it must be contained in the search results.

Playing around with the search operators works when the search here does not.

If there isn't one already- maybe there should be a sticky about how to effectively use the search function.

Try some of these links- came up easily after doing a Dave's search.

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=79687&highlight=aeon+interview
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=80192&highlight=aeon+interview
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=64140&highlight=ecc
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=77389

I can confirm that these experiences with the interview process are still up-to-date and valid. Nothing has changed with the interview process between any of them in the past years- in fact I found threads as far back as 2004-2003 explaining the interview process, and little has changed even from then.

Well, I didn't check them...figured it would've been obvious if this particular post is directed at me since I did use words like "assumption" and "probably". At the time I posted, I didn't have the time to actually look through them.

As for recent information, if it were me, I'd prefer something from say the previous year or two than say...something from five or more years ago. There could've been changes over that period of time.

It's like how I searched this forum, and others, for info on Heart. Most of what I read was negative (and old), but, imo, there weren't many posts going on about why it was so bad aside from the low pay rate (mostly).

This sort of response irks me. You complain about the age of posts yet don't bother to check them.

I could be real snooty here, but I'll just leave it at this: please take the time. As I wrote, at least one post is from 2009, which suits your criteria.

But obviously, there virtually hasn't been, as another poster has already confirmed.

But like I said in my original post, I was assuming that the info might have consisted of older information. In other words, I was making an assumption that some of the info was old, which is why I figured it was obvious that I didn't get the opportunity to look over them yet. I was planning on taking a look when I had more time...also, I don't particualarly need the info provided or anything at the moment. I also wasn't complaining.

I was being hypothetical. I said "if it was me", I'd prefer something like that.

Yeah, I saw, but, pressed for time. Saw this post, though, and just felt the need to reply before running off for the next class.

Saints, both are reputable companies. I worked at ECC and enjoyed its casual professionalism. I don't have any experience with AEON and never knew any AEON teachers, but have heard through the grapevine that they can be taskmasters with their teachers. If you want a corporate experience, consider AEON; if you want a more casual (but still professional) experience, consider ECC. I think both companies offer similar development opportunities for those who want to climb the EFL ladder.
