Am I right on this?
I'm very possibly coming to Santiago to look for work this coming March. It might be a bit earlier but March is a good bet right now. I'm wondering what the best strategy to look for a place to stay is?
I know that both apartments and rooms are available. A large efficiency type place would probably suffice for me since that's what I've been used to over here in Korea where I teach now.
I don't require much really. Primarily just a clean place with a good internet connection. But as for the standard methods, do foreigners like me usually start with some kind of local newspaper.........or.......what?
And.......are there other publications I could peruse when I get there?
I also gather, from what I've read here and other places, that the leases or rental arrangements one can make aren't necessarily limited to 1 full year. They can be shorter, right?
I read somewhere that the first thing to do would probably be to check into one of the 'backpacker' type places(I saw a couple listed and bookmarked them somewhere....it was some Australian guy, I think) and get to know the city first. Does that make sense?
Any advice would be appreciated because.
Thanks,
Art
