The one thing I really miss about living in Doha is all the fantastic sports events. I don't miss the Gulag but I miss my teaching buddies. I guess the end of the beginning was when they raided Garveys and closed the bar down. This city has fabulous tennis events and I miss going to those. My new country is obsessed with soccer-football like everywhere else.

Sports fans in Doha were yesterday given the opportunity to hear insights into tennis from three of the biggest names to have ever played the sport, as Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe and Ilie Nastase took part in a panel discussion at Aspire4Sport conference. The passion with which this trio played is surely what sport is all about, and the opportunity to hear them speak about their experiences was clearly enjoyed by an adoring audience.

This is a game I would have loved to have seen. Qatar invests a lot of money in sports and it's reaping the beneifts. Good on ASPIRE and all the other sports outfits!

The 2022 soccer World Cup in Qatar could take place in January or February to avoid the scorching temperatures of the summer months in the desert state, FIFA Executive Committee member Franz Beckenbauer said yesterday.

This guy is one very smart and charismatic dude. At the Asian Games in the pouring rain, he rode up the stadium steps on his stallion. An amazing sight I was priviledged to see. This guy is a real credit to the ruling family.

I bet she's a cutie. Let's hope she gets a special invite to 2022.

These matches are absolutely fantastic. A real sense of community. This country is the best place to be for a sports fan like me.
