I am currently in Turkey and am hoping to get the Hell out of here before summer of 2011 hits.. I have a Degree and TESOL cert. with over 15 years experience... I am really getting sick of it over here and am looking for a change...How long do you guys think it would take me to find work in say June 2011?? Also, do you think if I arriev with only a couple thousand bucks would that be enough?? In Turkey it is near to impossible to save anything... Thoughts!!

Weren't you the one who was trying to get out of China some time ago? I thought landing in Turkey was just what you wanted.

That being said, I'd like to know the answer to this question, too.

They pay that poorly in Turkey? Wow. I thought it was better than that.

I've got my eye on Cambodia, too. Looks pretty laid back, if not quite the place to make one's fortune.

It could be days or weeks. I've known some people working PT (1-2 hrs per day) at a school, requesting more hours every term, and not getting them after 2 years. Yet a younger looking guy with a big bright shiny smile walks in and gets a FT job without any hassle.

Many people start PT, work at multiple places, and then consolidate when possible. Most people don't earn much more than $1,000 per month for 25 hours of teaching a week. Then there are lots of public holidays, and school holidays, which are usually unpaid. It's hard to save.

Same story as Turkey.. at least in Cambodia you get a business visa and you don't piss away cash on visa runs...

I am sure a few of us would be interested to hear from anyone regarding the current situation finding work in Cambodia. Personally I plan to arrive in late November/early December in Phnom Penh. I have a Degree, TEFL cert and 11 years teaching experience. Hope I can find something half decent pretty quickly. Any updates? Cheers all.

wouldn't s.korea or taiwan be better then Cambodia if you want to save money. Don't get me wrong, I liked Cambodia and would like to teach there myself one day, but as far as i'm aware, there isn't much money to be made there. I teach in Taiwan and I find it incredibly easy to save money.

Hey Kirkpatrick - you still out there?

Where are you now? Don't tell me you're still in Turkey. Or have you made it to Cambodia?

Hi there. I am not Mr. Kurtz, I mean, Mr. Kirkpatrick, but I am interested in his original question. How long does it take to get work in Cambodia? (I have good qualifications, no worries there) Thanks.
