Hey-does anybody know about what the going rate is right now for private (perhaps one-on-one) jobs in Costa Rica?
Also, what's typical for language schools to pay?
Thanks,

Don't know about private students, but language schools seem to pay an hourly rate of around $7-$10 for teaching Business English classes on-site at companies, or about $500 a month if you're teaching classes at a private shool. This is not a lot of money. From what I hear it's enough to scrape by and do a bit of low-budget traveling. Also, these are San Jose salaries, so I don't know what salaries are like in the rest of the country, if opportunities for TEFL even exist. I'm headed down to San Jose myself in August to look for employment. Best of luck to you!

the hourly rate is $6-7 an hour, $10 an hour does't exist there. |

You will be lucky to get $US 7.50. A lot depends on your qualifications.
Good luck |

Jobs seem to range from $500-$712.00 per month. If you work at a private language school like BERLITZ where I interviewed expect to make the lower amount and be asked to sign a compulsory contract for a 6 day work week-10 hours a day. Not very tempting. |
