Hi, I was hoping to know from those in the field if my background is appropriate for accent training, hopefully in Bangalore.
I'm from the US and have taught ESL since 2006 in China, Quebec, France and Japan. I have a BA in linguistics, with focus on phonetics and phonology. I did one super short (8 day) contract in Bangalore ITPL when I was in India over the summer. Think it's worth sending out resumes or is that not the background they look for?
Thanks. |

Most of the jobs that include "accent training" are in the call centre market. Typically those jobs pay only about US$1000 per month. Such work often includes much more than merely accent training.
But with your background and experience, you can certainly add private training sessions. However, call centre work is often at night so I'm not sure how much more you'll want to do during the daytime! |

Thanks Henry!
I feel that I'm qualified to do accent training, at least the actual accent part of it. I did a short contract when I was in India last, but aside from that, I feel it's hard to find an in. Sometimes I apply for Monster India jobs, but they never reply. |
