Well... this one has been taken over by the military. The ones who put Nasser, Sadat, and Mubarak in power and kept them there. They have now pushed Mubarak out.

The question is... when will elections be held? In three months as per the constitution? Or in September as originally set? Or... Parties need time to organize. All we can do is watch and wait... and hope for the best.

I know the military control everything but can still hardly believe Hosni Mubarak finally resigned! From Egyptian friends I know they wanted just about anybody in power but him - understandable but a bit of a worry. Interesting times.

I have read many of your posts in the past and it seems you have very balanced view points. I would really appreciate and value your ideas on the following questions.

1) What do think the job market for ESL teachers will be like when the dust settles in Egypt?
2) Would you recommend a wait and see, about a teacher looking for a job in Egypt now or say, "Jump in and go for it"? I understand this might depend on a lot of things like qualifications, etc, but I mean, just in general.
3) Could you please comment on anything else you might like to add?

That is a very difficult question and to be honest, you are likely watching the same news that I am. (though I have some friends still in the country, who feel no need to leave as of now) Obviously there is a risk, and it would depend on your employer too. My guess, and it is just a guess, is that things will be unsettled for the next year. Personally... if you are a newbie to Egypt... I would wait until after the elections and see how it looks.

Much depends on your personal tolerance for the possibility of danger.
