Hi,

I have a few questions about TEFL Training and Job Opportunities in Arequipa, Peru.

First, what does job market look like right now for a new TEFL teacher with TEFL certificate but no experience in Arequipa? Is a $500/mth. to $800/mth. salary at a private institute reasonable?

Second, does Va Lingua offer a legitimate TEFL certificate course?

Third, are there any alternative certification courses in Arequipa that are more affordable than Va Lingua? Va Lingua wants $1,550 for its course.

Finally, what additional aspects of teaching English should I take into account when living in Arequipa?

Thank you for your comments

Yep,$500 to $800 is the average, just don't expect
Visas
Housing
Flights

VIa Lingua, if they have 120 hours with 6 of on site teaching, then yes.

That price is pretty much the best you'll find. There's another course I know of, but it's 3 months long.

Housing will be an additional expense. As will border runs or paying the $1 a day fine for overstaying your visa.

Check your PM for more info

Hey, I've taught at Extreme, the school that hosts the Via Lingua program. Check your pms.

You'll make about $500 at best in Arequipa, but it's also a really cheap city to live in
