I have a phone interview for a faculty position this week and I was wondering if anyone has worked there as a faculty member or knows people who work there and could give me an honest opinion of the place. In particular, I am wondering how it would compare to a university in the United States or Canada. |

I see that no one has shown up, but I am not surprised. We have never had a poster here from these small universities connected to the US. From what I have "heard." these are good places to work for in Qatar.
Have you ever taught in the Middle East before? Ever taught Arabic-speaking students? Although there is a great deal of pretense that it will be the same system as back in the US, it will have to make adjustments. As to how much Texas A&M had done so, I can't say. (and they would never ever admit it. )
I would certainly consider an offer from them to be a good opportunity. If you can get up to 5 posts, you could PM me concerning details of any offer that you don't wish to put on a public board.
