Does Macau have some sort of permanent residency system in place like Hong Kong does (I know in HK after 7 years you can apply for PR)? Does anyone know? Has anyone gotten PR in Macau WITHOUT marrying a local?

Seems as if you are still searching for the perfect spot to settle down. You have looked into several different countries... which ones look the best so far? Which ones have you ruled out?

I am starting to think there isn't... I know HK deffo gives PR to people after 7 years... trouble is finding a decent job in HK.
Anyone know about Macau? |

Yes, but which of the categories do you fit into:
Scholar (associate professor or above), LARGE scale investor, senior adviser to government, spend a lifetime as an unpaid worker for the government or senior management in a joint venture company?
I don't see ESL teacher in the list.
As I said above, not possible for the average Joe as of 2003.

Yes, that exists in Macau.
First, you have to apply for the Non-Permanent Resident card. It gives you the same rights and privileges as a Permanent resident. You are required to live in Macau for seven years before you can recieve permanent residency status. Basically, as far as I know, it's the same system as Hong Kong.
By the way, there is also a system in place in Japan, for Permanant Residency. It's only 5 years. |
