We're very modest round these parts Smile

Some threads lurk under the Czech Republic or perhaps I can help?

How did you get started in Slovakia? I am interested in teaching there, as well.

I was just wondering if it is as hard to find a post in Bratislava as it is in western europe, since it's part of the EU now. Or is it alot easier? Im interested in Teaching there for a year, along with other cities.

Much easier to find jobs here. Not nearly as popular as the Czech Republic (Prague), which means it's also possible to find a job if you're non-EU.

The economy is just starting to pick up at the moment. Moody's estimate just out for 3.7% growth this year. Some areas are still 'restructuring' but I would expect demand for English to continue. A couple of new schools have opened up recently (in the capital and elsewhere).

Salaries are extremely low though and costs are high relative to salaries.

Contracts are usually for a year and schools hire year round, although more jobs are generally advertised for Sept starts.

thanks for the info! As long as it's a livable wage, including social life, it sounds pretty good

Most come to Prague, few go to Slovakia for Teaching. Culture is similar there which is good.
