Would any teacher/language school owner currently working in Greece please comment on how the current economic conditions have affected students/frontisteria etc. Are students still attending in the same numbers? Have fees gone down/up? What is the mood regarding English lessons? Please reply as I have been planning to go to Greece and the current situation has scared me sh*tless. |

...Maybe the all the TEFLrs are just having way too much fun drinking ouzo and stuffing themselves with moussaka to bother hanging out on Dave's. |

There are plenty of opportunities in small language institutes. Obviously tougher competition for universities/international schools but native speakers with good credentials are in demand. Schools start hiring for September between May-July. It's hard to find full time work in the middle of the year but it can be done. Jobs are advertised in several of the newspapers.
Money is bad. If you have to rent I personally can't imagine how you would manage it.
Contracts will usually be for 10 months. Schools closed July-August. |

Thanks - it sounds like Greece isn't completely impossible then, even if it's difficult. |
