It seems that the enthusiasm for this RoamaniaForum has disappeared.
Has everyone decided to give Romania a miss ?
By all accounts it is dificult to find anything in Romania, unless you come through EEP or PC or maybe Soros. |

Well, I'm still interested. I've applied. I'll find out for sure sometime around Easter. I applied with sharing One Language.
What is EEP?

Since naturegirl lost interest, this forum has been slowly dying. |

It's sad. I hope that other people get interested in Romania. Maybe after they join the EU, things will change. |

EEP is East European Partnership. It is (or was) the name of the branch of VSO that recruited for Eastern Europe. |

Rumania was on the news last nite in north America--CNNs pedophile story, a british-made documentary about street kids in bucharest. I watched it once a few weeks ago, that was enuff. Very sad. Interstingly, a colleague of mine in cambodia came there from rumania. When I found this out, my interest was piqued. One evening, not consciously thinking of him , I said out loud that any middleaged geezer who comes to Cambodia and stays for no obvious purpose is likely there for the kiddies. He gave me a funny look which i only recalled in hindsight, after he went to jail for filming little girls with a secret camera. he got three years. He bribed the judge 5000 dollars to be released (standard practice) and the judge, under pressure from someone or other, broke his word. The chap flew into a rage in the courtroom and broke up the furniture. he did his three.
Where was I? Oh yes, Rumania...

Apologies in advance for minor thread hijack... Khmerhit, I saw that documentary here two weeks ago in Taiwan. ICK! Didn't that TP guy gross you out? I'm glad that hoser you met was held accountable for his transgressions, and the judge went legit enough to make him do his time. My heart aches for the little ones... Who will help them through their experiences?
Too bad of course that jail time is normally more punitive in nature than transformative--to change people from flirting with pedophilia to normal functional adults who view children as people to be protected and nurtured. |
