I am sure this is a question that is often asked, but I'm apparently using the wrong keywords on search engines.
I'm currently teaching at an international school in Indonesia that uses the CIE curriculum. I plan to return to the US in two years and teach in a public school. For anyone who knows or has been in a similar position, will this experience be regarded as qualified experience for steps on salary schedules in most US public school districts or not?
Thanks for any information you can offer. |

I worked in NYC, so I can't speak for other public school systems, but I was credited my experience working at private language schools (2 years in Japan, and 6 or 7 in Montreal and New York City) on the Salary Scale. |

In California if you change districts your in-state, post-certification experience may only partially count. For example, a teacher with 20 years experience may only get 5 years credit on the salary scale, and have to start at the bottom with seniority.
(I am getting my information from teachers who post on the atozteacherstuff and teachers.net forums.) |

Depends on the district. I was given credit for overseas work. |
