Aiwa, but my signoff is never in the negative and my name is ALWAYS capitalized.

It's a fact!

You're right.

But it contains a double entendre.

So it's hard to know when it will be used in the first way or the second.

I mean, it's scary!

Surprised

I believe you.

I actually once considered teaching in Iraq or Afghanistan, if the money was good. Smile

But the bombings and bloodshed...

I mean...it's scary! Shocked

That's right.

It's scary!

(More like a suicide run than a teaching job.)

Confused

Ya know, I actuallly applied for a job there years ago, but was turned off by their insistance that it had to be a single-status posting. (Ya see, Afganistan had fallen off of the media radarscope at the time because of the unlawful war in Iraq.

That's when I first learned that the Taliban had noticed the vacuum in Afganistan and start back at their campaign. That was in 2005-6... maybe 2007, I think...

It's with my family or not at all!

The odd thing is that with a very few exceptions (some hires for US government contract teaching - very short term), the pay is closer to that of Oman than anywhere else in the Gulf. And it is less than Oman.

It's paltry.

For six figures, sign me up! So many of my teaching jobs have been downright b-o-r-i-n-g!

I could go for a good scarenario!

I am a teacher of past or present (one of which is true, the details are not of your concern).

Here is the layout of the AIS-K in terms of employee/teacher-related issues:

1. Visas are not instant and the process is quite shady.
2. Teacher accommodations are totally substandard, with health issues inside each quarter (constant illness still occur).
3. Alcohol is prohibited in teachers' quarters.
4. You will expect a 3 hour power outage per day (even in winter) because the school will not purchase a generator (generators are common here).
5. You will not have all of the subject textbooks required for your job.
6. The school is run by Arabs which means your concerns are of no concern to them.
7. Teachers are valued less than a single student. Classroom size and space considerations are ignored by ownership.
8. Your pay will be considerably less than other schools in the city or region despite your qualifications.

That's it. Enjoy the information.

Regards,

GF
