Russian cuisine, you got to be kidding me.

Ah, but since this was a response to your own comment, "I am not really sure why they would want to go to Europe!" it was surely meant as a reference to all of Europe, and not just Russia, don't you think? Wink

No, I'm not. And I too suspect what Spiral has said - you have never eaten Russian food. (Aeroflot servings don't count.)

If you think about it, what country seriously has "bad" food? Is there any nation that eats like... gristle and burned potatoes as a national dish. Even the U.S. A big homemade burger on the grill with all of the fixin's is great.

I have lived in Bersk outside of Novosbirsk. Not really much there other than Russian food.

Bersk or Berdsk? In any case, didn't they have caviar there? Or borsch, soups generally, blinichiki, pelmeni, varenyky or khachapuri? Or maybe they just weren't to your individual taste? You'd find a lot of delicacies in Europe may not be to your liking, but that's no reason to be amazed that other people adore them.
