I'm not in France but I was hoping some of you could help - can you recommend any solid high beginner CDs/DVDs for learning French? I've been in Quebec for about 7 months now and I am struggling with interaction (Most people here are bilingual and often won't speak to me in French even when I ask! I am at home with a young baby so it's hard to travel 1 hour into the city for any language groups). Any recommendations?

I really like BBC French, especially Ma France. Good dialogs and activities.

Great link, thank you!

I am also enjoying the game show "A table!" on TV5 Laughing I spend a lot of time in the grocery store so it's a good stepping stone for me Wink

Michel Thomas. You might work quickly through the beginner set, but there's an Advanced set after (which isn't really Advanced, more of an Intermediate level thing). I used them both before I came to France, and I found them absolutely fantastic. They're quite focused on grammar, but I think that's what you probably need - it's easier to pick up the vocab if you're already in-country, but the grammar is harder to get to grips with passively IMO.
