One recommendation - respect the local culture. Too many expats, especially my fellow Americans, have a blatant disregard for local cultural traditions and values. If you want respect from your students, make sure you respect them. Teachers who respect their students survive.

Depends who you work for. Foreign owned schools like those at Ed City have review committees and staff rights. Many places like QU etc do not. So if you are fired, you don't have any rights and are not entitled to the truth as to why you lost your job. It happened again recently. One of the unlucky people was humiliated when he tried to find out why. It's all personal, if the foundation English boss don't like you, your goose is cooked.
