Hannah, have you heard anything about the job? I went all the way to london for an interview. Some people got told that week that they were unsucessful. I didnt hear anything so i emailed. They said they had made 4 offers and that i was part of a middle limbo group who were being considered. Its been over a week now and still nothing. I emailed the recruiter and he said he doesnt really know whats happening. Im very dissapointed with the british council. They seem very disorganised in cairo.

It seems that they weren't sure about how many teachers were needed. Realistically you are immediately down to only a 50/50 chance at best if you didn't get an immediate offer.

This year things are very much up in the air in Cairo with the revolution. While it is not convenient for you, it is also certainly no surprise that their student numbers may be very difficult for them to calculate.

The reality is BC is one of the more organized employers in Egypt (or the Middle East)... so best to have realistic expectations of efficiency. Perhaps this is your first experience with ME employers?

Hi Cupcake - no, I haven't heard anything. I had assumed that meant I was not selected so I have sent an email asking for feedback on my interview! If I get a more enlightening response I'll let you know. Although how on earth they would expect us to get there for the start date I don't know!

I didn't get it, but I requested feedback from my interview and the recruiter gave me some very detailed and really useful feedback. I'd recommend doing the same. It's not only useful if you apply to the BC in the future, but for job interviews in general.
