I have no information on this organization but am curious about the Aviation English. I teach the same in the US. I wonder if there are many opportunities out there for those with similar background.

But I can say that the students are generally good and motivated, no problem there. If your going to teach A.F. pilots, I can't comment, but I've been told that the on base facility is "modern." Perhaps meaning newish? Course materials: Macmillan, Aviation English and RMIT, RELTA course materials.
There is a computer lab for the RMIT programs.
At the moment I'm the only expiate on site teaching A.E. The hours have been, 6 class room hours per day, five days a week, plus whatever time is required for you to prep/develop your lessons.
Cost of living is relatively low.
I'd be happy to address the rest of your questions privately, but I'll have to make three more public ones prior. |

emowshinallchicken,
I think you can guess how the rest of your questions go: local amenities, facilities, and my experience of the place |

I was offered a job but I'm glad I didn't go. Recently had it from various sources that the contract is worth toilet paper (not all have a contract!), accommodation is filthy, bug-ridden and the kitchen unworkable. The money is not transferable out of the country and at weekends travel outside Algiers is so difficult as to be impractical.
Facilities for teacher support consist of 3 CD players for 12 classrooms - not even a photocopier!
Students appear happy and motivated but bearing in mind all the above, they can't be getting much benefit.
LSA seem to be running the game on a miniscule budget, meaning they are cynically screwing the customer to the wall. Now where have I heard that before.............?

Language Solutions are pants; nothing more than recruitment consultants despite having a name that suggests learning is involved. |

LSA are advertising again - 100euro pay cut it seems
Using 'Macmillan' material? Not allowed to develop past that? Weirdly it advertises 'hotel' this time, judging by previous comments here & on other forums; wondering if it's actually a real hotel??? Per diem for meals ..?? Apparently you can't get out of town due to their 'security' restrictions
Don't believe a word of it & not going to get sucked in for such a low salary - too many bad stories have come out of there; not for an Aviation English professional! |
