|
|
Hello all!
My wife & are interested in living in Honduras.
We have family who are ex-pats living in Belize, we've been there having even driven from California into Belize.
We've also traveled in Mexico and CA.
But we're very interested in Honduras. As a country it sounds very interesting.
We have no kids, I speak Spanish wife doesn't.
I'd say we're both motivated people in reasonably good health, we're in our early 40's.
So heres what I'd like to know...
-What kind of training should we look into?
-What are the English teaching job prospects?
- Where are the jobs?
-When does the teaching season start?
-How do people find teaching work?
-What's the pay like?
-What amount of $ is needed for a couple to live simply?
That's about it for now. Thank you for any helpfull info. you can give! |

TEFL certs help. Pay in Latin America is low. You're probably looking at 1000 dollars tops a month unless you get into an intl school.
As for how much you need, it depends on your lifestyle, the food you eat, what you drink, how you travel, etc |

I don't think you'd even get that high outside of an international school. OP didn't mention any qualifications or prior experience teaching....unless you have those then the international schools won't even be an option.
The school year there begins in late August by the way... |

You can get just over $1000 usd a month in Tegucigalpa at one school I know of, plus the usual benefits of airfare and housing stipend. I'm not sure about others in the country, but there are very few. |

Great! Though I think I gave birth to a farm, she squeaks like a mouse, snorts like a pig, neighs like a horse, and has buggy eyes and eats like a rabbit!
The stocking pix is cute. |

Thanks for the input. Actually where I live there is a program open to assist the imigrant community learn to read & write & speak English.
I am going to volunteer since it is a good thing to do any way. But another motive would be to get some free training and work experience.
Again any input from more experienced people is always appreciated! |
