Dear Sasha,
I am tremendously irritated by this guy (whose remarks seem to be coming out of left field and who must be a rookie journalist.) I think he needs to be hospitalized.
Regards,

Dear John and Sasha:
He appears in the final sentence to claim that modern British English is somehow the 'original' version. Bollocks. Who publishes such silliness?
Must have been a VERY slow news day indeed.
Best,

That said, some Americanisms irritate me (as do some Americans) but that's a matter for the Peerless Peeves thread |

I'm peeved just because of the font. Couldn't read beyond the first paragraph for that reason. My favourite Americanism is 'Lawyered up'. I just want to utter it, in the correct context, once in my lifetime. |

No one in their right mind would read this sort of tosh.
'British good. American bad.' |

Many subjects of Liz 2 suffer from knee-jerk anti-Americanism. Part of the Inferiority Complex they havehad since they lost the position of 'Top Nation'.
Date that to the surrender of Singapore in 1942. |

Talking about smoking a fag sounds even worse than 'randy' and 'pants' in North America - and is far more likely to have negative consequences if one says it to the wrong person:-) |

Hehe
When I was in the back of beyond in China there were some born-again seppos in town who were secretly translating the bible and feeding it to the locals with one guy eventually getting deported for the crime. They used to invite me round for dinner every now and then and after the meal I always enjoyed telling them that I was just going onto the balcony to smoke a fag. |
