Marx was right! The decadent capitalist economies are about to collapse...

Invest in the stability of the Russian ruble!

Sorry, comrade...

But I'm going to stick to the US dollar.

Besides, where will I get rubles? At a Russian Federation embassy?

And once I have rubles, what will I do with such currency? Invest in vodka? Invest in caviar?

Confused

I'm not so sure that's a good plan, Cap. I'm afraid my dollar--with which I have to buy euros--is about to take a nosedive. Crying or Very sad

That would be the same dollar that used to buy $1.50 CAD and now only gets you about 93 cents CAD?
The same dollar that used to get you 44 THB and now gets you 29?
The same dollar that used to buy 1500 KRW and now only gets you 1100?
The same dollar that used to buy 55 PHP and now gets you only about 42?

Not looking too good for the greenback right now. You'd be better off putting your money into something stable like vodka (or scotch) or kilos of coffee.

I have actually been changing my rubles into because the rate is so damn good right now.

I reckon the pound will hit as little as 43 rubles before the year is up though.

Buying rubles now is madness - so expensive!

Sorry guys. But the US dollar is still strong.

While vacationing in the Philippines last year, I was able to enjoy the most luxurious amenities at affordable prices: lavish dinners, lavish lunches, whole body massage, quality dental care, designer clothes, premium cigars, fine chocolates, etc.

That's right. The US dollar still has great purchasing power in developing countries.

I can't wait to go back...

Cool

When I saw President Obama making his last speech, he seemed quite concerned, unhappy, and stressed out about one or two things.

Has nobody told him he can still afford fine chocolates in the Philippines?

Buy silver. You can't trust any currency.

Also cigarettes and whisky. Actually I put my cash into silver bullion, stored in a safe place. The US dollar is doomed.

LOL... Very Happy or more aptly, ROTFLMAO Laughing .

The US economy is in the toilet, the dollar and T-bills have lost 30% of their value against a LARGE number of currencies and are still nosediving even against such poor currencies as the PHP.

Prior to the crash you used to get 55 PHP for 1 dollar. Now you only get 40 PHP for your dollar.

You'd be better off putting your money into the BPI and earning 3% interest rather than putting it into an American bank (while praying the bank doesn't go bankrupt) and watching the currency continue to fall while earning 0% interest.

Double dip recession coming soon to a country near you there Capt_Fil - buy your pesos now cause they are only going to get more expensive.

[quote="AP"]WASHINGTON (AP) -- Credit rating agency Standard & Poor's on Friday downgraded the United States' credit rating first time in the history of the ratings.

The credit rating agency said that it is cutting the country's top AAA rating by one notch to AA-plus. The credit agency said that it is making the move because the deficit reduction plan passed by Congress on Tuesday did not go far enough to stabilize the country's debt situation.

USA = the new Mexico.

oil price took a massive hit - they think demand will drop because of the imminent double dip recession. Therefore the value of the rouble took a hit. In relation to the , it dropped 1rouble from floating around 45, going to over 46. 1 rouble on 1k = 20. All adds up.

Need a bigger oil price hike - especially because of the US downgrade.

I find it nice how the rmb (Chinese Yuan) keeps gaining on the dollar. My pay keeps increasing and exchange rates getting more favorable. Maybe if I hold out a few more years I can clear my student loan with one month's pay. I , oddly for working in China, get paid in pounds, which might start hurting.
