Same boat. I got offered a position today and I have to figure out everything I need to do to get into the country. Will they ask for a medical before I enter the country? Also, I am not in my home country. If I have to return, it would be an unbelievable hassle. I am assuming I can do everything at the local embassy and such. Yes? What kind of medical do they want?

Firstly, congratulations on the job offer! Your employer should tell you exactly what needs to be done and, if they don't do that soon, I'd send them a quick e-mail just asking for clarification. In regards to the medical, I did that in Vietnam and that wasn't a problem. The medical is pretty standard stuff and includes a blood test. You will have to do it again when you get to Oman and they just want to see that there aren't any medical 'red flags' before you get here. I'd say you will also need to get your degree (and perhaps your high school certificate if you graduated on or after 1990) notarized. I did that in Australia, but, perhaps you can do that in an embassy or consulate abroad....
