Is your objection to the refugees, their watching Coronation Street, or their interruption of your own enjoyment of said programme? Please clarify. |

Given Hod's previous utterances, I'd say those chaps were just his cup of tea! |
Pay more attention at the back. As my biggest fan-*beep*-stalker since 2004, you must glean I can't be much of a racist when my wife is not from round here.
Back on topic, if I were a middle manager at ISIS and had this five-year plan to conquer the world, I'd start with Europe. My first problem would be how to get there unnoticed. Oh wait.
I doubt ISIS will conquer the world, but I think they'd quite like to try. |

And how many will be invited to stay at chez Scot47? |
Sturgeon would be “absolutely happy” to take a refugee from Syria.
She will house them in Bute House, the 18th-century Edinburgh townhouse that serves as the official residence of the Scottish first minister.
Bob Geldof said on Friday he felt “profound shame” about the response to the refugee crisis and said he would put up families in his houses in London and Kent.

I guess Scotty will follow Bob Geldof example an would be happy to give his home for a longer period of time, to somebody fleeing Syria. |

Actually I've been a fan of Hod since I saw him on TV in the early 70s. In those days he was bald, bespectacled, cursed profusely, and wore a West Ham scarf.

Over the years I've met a number of western men, mainly ex-military types, with Thai and Filipina trophy wives. Most of the gentlemen concerned were extremely racist.
If I read Scot47's comments about refugees correctly, he'd prefer to see them housed in reception centres. If that makes him a NIMBY, what does it make David Cameron?
As for Bob Geldof, he and Bono are self-serving publicity hounds. |

Nimby47's writing style is concise, and he doesn't quote authors or other people's opinions. Neither did he mention refugee camps. Maybe you imagine things?
Whilst we're doing name changes, how about NevilleC? |

I expect my readers to utilise some of the Wit the Lord gave them.
Let the refugees in. House them, feed them. Even let them watch Coronation Street, but not chez moi. We have all these empty barracks since Cameron started running down conventional forces so he could spend our money on that Trident junk he gets from the Yanks.

I fear logical inferences are not Hod's style.
Elizabeth Saxe-Coburg Gotha married a refugee, one Mr Battenberg. She has plenty of spare rooms in her various residences, and perhaps would care to accommodate a few guests from the Levant. |

My close neighbours, the Marquess of Bute and the Duke of Argyll also have large houses. Several in fact. I shall have a word with them. |

Sorry, do you mean the queen married Phil and could house some refugees? Isn't brevity the soul of wit? I wouldn't like to be behind you in the Big Mac queue. Keep it brief, please. |

Following the Gricean maxim of quantity, I emphasised the foreign origins of the Windsors in order to contrast middle Eng-er-land's adoration of its imported royalty with its hatred of Johnny Foreigner.
