The Omanis I was talking about have Bachelors degrees from SQU and several years teaching experience. Maybe that's why there is a delay in their appointment. |

On OMR 700 basic monthly salary at MTC you will be competing with Sub Continentals from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as EFL teachers nowadays....O Man has it all....and Musk Rat is becoming more expensive to live in and work by the day. |
what's the deal with your "o man," and Musk Rat"? |

He seems to be of the impression that it is humorous or creative or something. He has been doing it for a couple years on all of his posts... and of course, it has been tedious and boring for the whole time.
The saving grace is that he often has useful information included...

What's with all this incorrect information??
Let's be clear that we are talking about the Military Technological College.
1900 all inclusive, plus base salary (1200) bonus, 2 flights, 30 days free room.
MTC continues to only hire native speakers.
Shift is 7:30-2:00 (but only need to be around when you teach and to get your stuff done) 18-20 contact hours. So do the math on how many hours people are there. Never 40.
All other information is wrong.

Seems to me that some of the posters are giving false information on purpose as to prevent people coming for work to Oman. Correct me if wrong but how can somebody claim 700 ( plus 200-300) when it is 1900? That is a huge difference, right? |

But there can be considerable differences in pay according to a] who your actual employer is-are you 'direct hire' or agency? b] the nationality of the teacher. A native speaker from USA or UK is going to be paid a hell of a lot more than somebody from India or Sudan. |

All MTC teachers are/will be native speakers who are hired directly with the Ministry of Defence. |

Yes, we know it, they are the gems of ESL profession, therefore they are paid so much more than MoHE or MoM inferior ones. Ta ta ....
I though wanted to say that I did see with me own eyes recruitment ads for some vocational technical institutes, as if a grade lower than Takaniya Colleges, a whole network of them apparently existing in Oman, under the auspices of I don't know what ministry, where students graduate with a vocational diploma. Perhaps the acronym [ is this the right term?] for them is also MTC? If so, ir even if not so, the salary they offer to ESL teachers is exactly 700 OR a month. I saw the add once on the Al Nawa website, they, Al Nawa, recruited for these vocational technical colleges/institutes in Oman. So the figure 700 is true.
Anyway, chapeau bas to the gem ones worthy of 1900 OM! You impress us all in MoHE and MoM. |

MTC, as I understand it, is the Ministry of Manpower Higher College of Technology in Muscat. The Military college is completely different. |

So we have two places being referred to as MTC? The Military Technical College is likely the one paying the 1900 and the MoM college is the lower number.
