You certainly can with the oil and gas industry. I believe dragonpiwo is involved with these industries. I have personally done several lucrative stints with oil companies. |

He says he makes more than double what the OP makes and she's been offere 14k. So you telling me dragon's on more than 28k aed per month? And he's not that well qualified he says. Well how qualified then? Not a PHD then.
28k a month for teaching EFL is silly money |

Some piano teacher who was fired by Berlitz in Italy...
Who taught illegally for a couple months in Saudi once...
... is giving salary advice on the UAE board... again proving that he has no idea what he is talking about.

If you truly have a PhD in Psychology, it makes more sense to look at jobs in your field rather than this one for a guidance counselor. But hey, no one is telling you not to apply. |

More than 28 but hey-ho, I'm an oil and gas Technical English pro with 20 years in the hole.
You have to come and live in the desert to earn it though. Free accommodation and 5* food, pools and gyms and home every few days.
If you aren't as qualified as Stephen Hawking, work for oil companies or military bods. |

DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!!!
The nice lady is contemplating a BAD career move.
Besides, if you're secure in yourself, why reply? His posts aren't accusations of substance, they're taunts. |

I've told her the dosh is rubbish.
Clearly none of you work for an ADNOC company in the field, teaching Technical English. My salary is the going rate.
Direct-hire, the housing allowance alone is 170k a year.
Don't let facts get in the way. |

dragonpiwo, just to clarify: the excellent jobs you're describing are only available for men in the first place, correct? |

And irrelevant for this thread as the poster is female. LOL
So perhaps Dragon shouldn't mislead them by using his salary for comparison. This is the same problem that comes up on the Saudi threads where 90% of the really high pay jobs are oil/military related and none hire women.

Amen to that, sister. Frankly, I'm not sure why he keeps mentioning his salary at all (like a certain loud US politician...). |

There are females in the Human Talent HQs of oil companies, some of whom have very high positions. |

So how are those job cuts working for you?

14000 AED is a good start for someone with a BA, for teaching at least. The OP might consider looking for positions teaching at the university level. ECAE WOULD have been a possibility, but word on the street is that there is a hiring freeze there. Well, gosh, yes, just about everywhere is frozen or laying off. |
